Gary Hustwit is an independent filmmaker based in New York and London. He has produced six feature documentaries, including I Am Trying To Break Your Heart, the award-winning film about the band Wilco; Moog, the documentary about electronic music pioneer Robert Moog; Drive Well, Sleep Carefully, a tour film about the band Death Cab for Cutie; and the well known Helvetica, released in 2007 to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the typeface’s introduction in 1957.

Objectified is a feature-length documentary about the complex relationship with manufactured objects and, by extension, the people who design them. It’s a look at the creativity at work behind everything from toothbrushes to tech gadgets. It’s about the designers who re-examine, re-evaluate and re-invent our manufactured environment on a daily basis. It’s about personal expression, identity, consumerism, and sustainability.

The film is currently touring at festivals and cinemas worldwide, screenings in NY, San Francisco, Chicago, Minneapolis, Boston, London, Seattle from March to June 2010 are already sold out!

Today FUN FACTORY are Europe’s biggest manufacturers of stylish erotic silicone toys and trendsetters in the erotic toys market. The objects designed by FUN FACTORY prove that good design is characterized by a combination of perfectly, aesthetically shaped form and convincing functionality. The evening is focused on CMYK – which refers to the four inks used in colour printing: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black.

Infographythm, projet coordonné par le CarréRotondes et l’asbl Design Friends, se conçoit dans la lignée de l’exposition Graphythm – alliance de graphisme et de rythme – organisée dans les murs de l’ancien Exit07, dans le cadre de Luxembourg et Grande Région, Capitale européenne de la culture 2007.

Pour cette nouvelle édition, l’info-graphie sera à l’honneur. Les participants – issus du monde du design (graphistes, photographes, etc.) – se plieront à un cahier des charges pour le moins inhabituel en pleine trève estivale : établir un bilan d’activité personnel pour le mois d’août. Il s’agira de rendre compte, au moyen de l’info-graphie comprise dans son sens originel d’« information par le graphisme », d’une activité personnelle – du plus banal listing d’un quotidien ralenti aux plus extravagantes expériences saisonnières – pratiquée tout le long du mois d’août et dont les résultats et valeurs seront traduits au moyen de diagrammes, courbes et autres schémas évaluatifs.

Les codes du graphisme bureaucratique (souvent alimentaire…) seront ainsi réinvestis d’une manière ludique, mais dans une démarche résolument esthétique, soulignant l’aspect quelque peu dérisoire et superflu des nombreux rapports d’activités qui se progagent en fin d’année. Infographythm est dédié à la petite entreprise personnelle de chacun des participants : août sous contrainte graphique, les créatifs montrant du zèle en pleine morte-saison !

Les créations sélectionnées seront exposées dans l’espace EXPO du CarréRotondes et rassemblées au sein d’un catalogue conçu à cette occasion.
